Greetings District One Members,

I cannot begin to explain the excitement and enthusiasm I had in Philadelphia seeing membership back in person and celebrating with you our honors and awards recipients.  Congratulations once again to Timothy Weston (Hall of Fame), Stephanie Singe (MDAT), Julie Alexander (ATSA), Quiz Bowl Team (3rd Place), as well as all our scholarship winners.  In addition I would like to congratulate ICSM award winners Leo Katsetos (Head Athletic Trainer of the Year) and Kelsey M. Rynkiewicz (New Horizon Award).

The District One Executive Council voted unanimously to make a bylaws change in Article 6.0 (f) striking the sentence “A voice vote of affirmation shall be taken at the District business meeting”.  This change will now go to the membership for a vote so please be on the lookout for an electronic ballot soon with further information.   I encourage you to participate in this process; your input is important!

Update on NATA Membership Dues from the NATA
After careful consideration and deliberations, the board voted to increase NATA national membership dues of $150 for professionals and $60 for students by 20%. (So $30 for AT and $12 for students) This is the first NATA national membership dues increase in more than ten years, and will go into effect Oct. 1, 2022 for 2023 membership dues and beyond.

In addition, members can enroll in our installment program – as early as today – to pay their membership dues over time with final payment due by Dec. 31, 2022. Those who have renewed or begun renewal installments for 2023 dues before Oct. 1, 2022 will renew at the current NATA national membership rate. Those renewing after Oct. 1, 2022 will renew at the new NATA national membership rate.

The NATA Historical Commission is embarking on a mission, along with our project partner, Publishing Concepts Inc. (PCI), to collect as many stories from athletic trainers as possible.

Nominations are open for EATA President-Elect and Treasurer. 

Please go to the EATA website to nominate a candidate by September 1, 2022. 

Nominations are now open for the EATA Excellence in Secondary School Athletic Training Award. Nominations close on September 1, 2022. The award is presented each year at the annual Eastern Athletic Trainers’ Association conference. In selecting the athletic trainer, it should be remembered that he/she should be a person who has made an outstanding contribution to the profession at the secondary school or prep school level. Please consider nominating a worthy colleague for this award.
